Children

Early childhood is a significant formative and foundational phase of development. This stage of a child's life shapes and influences much of his/her growth from infancy to pre-school age, through to the junior primary to intermediate and senior primary years and even beyond. It may be important to seek psychological assessment and intervention if parents, teachers or other professionals are alerted to developmental, emotional or behavioural difficulties in their children or the children they work with, in order to ensure that a child is enabled as much as possible to fulfill his/her potential.

At each juncture, starting pre-school; transitioning to grade 1 through to grade 3 and then on to grades 4-7 may present with various challenges for children. The earlier assessment and intervention is sought if any problems are apparent, the more opportunity a child has to overcome any possible difficulties with the mediation of teachers, parents and professionals.
